Default Dallas plans to charge for HOV lanes!! WTF

HOV lanes in 635 and another highway (believe I-35 by Royal Ln.) are going to be opening up soon and they are going to charge Toll way fees to drive on it. If you have 3 or more people you can get a discount. NTTA is already raping people with there fees! Pay or traffic.

I just realized it for the motorcycle drivers now that you just mentioned it.. Maybe buy a relocation kit for the license plate?

Where did you get this information? Also, I wonder how they are going to be able to calculate the exact number of people inside the vehicle so that the discount can be applied?

Anyway... Good thing I don't need to drive on 635, anyway. Just roll off bed, walk upstairs and I'm in my office.

Info aired today on Fox 4 around 12PM. They said that the HOV are going to be "MANAGED". I think each will have a police officer at a post. I get your question about the 3 people thing.. I have no clue. We will wait and see.. Good question.

They are "managing" I45 south of houston now. You can use it if you are one person and have an ez tag.

The I-10 section is free for high-occupancy (2+) isn't it? Then requires EZtag for everyone driving alone? I don't see anything wrong with that considering it's an HOV lane after all. It would be purpose defeating if it were free for everyone...

I have out of state tags so I dont pay at all. My wifes Tahoe has a toll tag but I told her to stay off of the toll roads and use the side streets.
I guess Dallas has to find a way to pay for Jerry's stadium!

that was my main complaint, they are going up everywhere...I was a little kid when they were built, but I seem to recall the city stating they would remove the tolls once the roads paid for themselves, which they have and other roads...that was big fat lie..

Yep. That is always the promise. My dad had a contract gig working at the HCTRA and said that most of the $$$ from tolls goes into a general fund. This fun can be used by politicians for anything without voter approval. They use very little for actual road repairs as they always claim. I don't know if or how it might be included in the budget though. This is why you will never see them be free.

Why would Dallas pay for Jerry's stadium in Arlington?
