help deciding.
Ok i was going to get a lq4 or lq9 block but i may have an opportunity to get an ls6 block and main caps from a z06 vette that had 16000 miles on it before he broke a ring land but the cylinder wall was not damaged. he only wants 500 for the block and its been line honed and decked already.

It depends what your plans are. An iron block would be nice if you plan on doing a stroker.
But for $500 just for for an empty block isn't that good of a deal. An LS6 block isn't really any more special or different from a regular LS1 block.

I mean i can still stoke it to a 383 with the ls6 right. And 383's while they aren't a 408 are still very powerful

Ok so i got the LS6 block tonight and im super excited. Cant wait to get started on the rest of this build. Im happy i went this route instead of the lq4 because i have manual rack and pinion up front and all this weight saving will help with steering haha

im looking at stroking it and id like 500 rwhp. its going in my 1973 olds omega x body. Im estimating my car weight around 3000lbs when completed. All AC and heater ducting has been removed as well as power steering. tubular upper and lower control arms are installed. Car runs and drives and is powerful as hell right now but im falling in love with LS builds i keep seeing. So i got the LS6 block and im going NA no power adders.
