Default First time to track in 2000 Camaro SS

Hi,

I'm sure nobody really cares, but I took my 2000 SS A4 on street tires to the track for the first time on Sunday and had a ball. My best was a 13.5 @105, but the thing that I was most excited about was how consistent the car was. I was never off more than a tenth over 6 passes. Now I need how to figure out how to get into the 12's....

Stock car? Not bad at all for your first time! What did your 60' times look like?

12s...I ran high 12s with just a tune, cat-back and lid in good air. 3.73s, longtubes, and the FRA put my 01 A4 at 12.22 at 114 mph. A tune alone (a good custom tune, not a canned one) and a lid with the FRA mod will get you into the 12s in good DA.

Thanks guys!

Car is stock as far as I can tell aside from a Whisper lid and K&N. I can't remember what the 60 foot was, but it was pretty bad 2.2-2.3. Ill have to review my slips.

I used to own a 91 5.0, 5 speed with nitrous and I could never get a consistent run. I was all over the map. I hated it. I guess the auto takes care of this. It seemed to hook and go really well opposed to the 5 speed (though the 60 foot says otherwise).

What are these "free mods" you speak of that you are trapping 110?

Free mods. Throttle body by pass, cut off egr, check for wide open throttle, we filled the air inlet tube baffles with two part foam and ported it. Air pump delete (98-00) welded a piece of exhaust to make it straight threw the muffler. Air the front tires up, remove spare tire and jack. Descreen the mass air and port it. Port the throttle body. I'm sure I'm missing something. I picked up 3 mph. Was able to 60' in the 1.95 range in good air also

Not bad at all for your first time to the racetrack. Just make sure to get some sticky rubber on her, do a few modifications and you will be in the 12s no problem!!
