Default cost to check pushrods

Shop quoted me 140 (2hrs) to tighten to rollers and check the push rod length
Should they be able to that in an hour?

140 for 2 hours is pretty cheap no matter what way you look at it. An hour is a little tight.... maaaaybe 1.5 at the lowest. Regardless if you wanna brutally honest answer - if you cant do it yourself then technically they can charge what they want. Having said that, not every shop will charge the same labor. AllData is a guide but we dont quote direct alldata time mostly because that stuff is written as if the cars are brand new.

...and free market says i can always go to another shop if they wanna charge whatever they want lol. but i have no experience in adjusting this, and so i want it done right because i dont wanna ruin my engine by dropping a valve or something. i just wasn't sure if i'd regret not posting and someone later on saying ah man, a shop should of been able to knock that out in 15 minutes. but thanks for the response. i just always check others input before proceeding.

You can always get a pushrod length checker (we have them for $20.00) and check the length yourself. It would probably take a total of 15 minutes to do yourself with the tool. Feel free to give me a call, I can definitely walk you through it.

Why are you checking it, did you have a heads or cam swap done? Is your valve train noisy? If so, whoever did the swap for you should have checked it?

I agree with Texas Speed. Buy the tool and do it yourself. Its not that hard. You will save some money and it always feels better when you can say you did it yourself.
