Can Banging and Popping when it starts to build boost I have a 1988 RX7 with a LT1...
The car was running perfect the other night and when I got on it, it started banging and popping when it started to build boost. Its a built motor with a 70mm turbo and only makes 8 pounds of boost.
-I've Changed ground cable to a bigger wire from Battery to Chassis
-Checked the couplings for tears
-Checked for Vacuum leaks (Sprayed Carb cleaner around intake)
-Changed the 6AL
-checked the plugs and wires (Plugs gapped at 30)
-Leak down cylinder were all at 15-20%
-Compression was 175/180 on all cylinders
It hava a MSD Optispark, not sure how common it is for them to go out. I hate to spend the money on one if that's not the problem.
Anything else I should check before I buy an Opti Spark? Is there any way to check it to see if it is working properly.

After tearing the car apart and the OptiSpark looking new, I found the coil had a crack in it. Replaced the coil and now it runs like a champ.
