Default Slow 1/4 mile time

I have a stock 99 T/A with a auto trans and I took it to the track last week and it ran a 14.2 all night with a 2.2 60ft. I did have a check engine light on for low knock sensor voltage. Do you think that could cause it to run that slow or do I have another problem I don't know about. I changed the knock sensors already but no change.

To me itsound like a more or less normal time for a stocker. Some are faster some not.
Depends on driving tech also- start , wheelspin etc.

Here's a page of times of summer versus fall;
http://www.97transam.com/97ta-timeslips.php. You'll see that 14.2 is norm.
Another after cam and then the torque converter;

Way too vague here.
What were your trap speeds?
What was the DA?
Do you have any mods at all, even something as simple as a different air filter?

14.2 might be average (or a little slower than average) for an LT1, but definitely not an LS1... Should be solid mod 13s @ 104 at least.

Yup way too vague.

Full slip info, location and DA.

Around here, high 13's to low 14's stock is pretty normal because of the altitude.

My first time out in my stock LS1 was a 13.5 at 105MPH, launching from idle too. Field elevation was like 180 feet, so I'm sure that helped also, but it was warm and humid out as well.

14.2 is LT1 territory, you shouldn't be there with a '99 T/A.

I ran 14.2 in my 99 auto TA when it was stock as a rock with the same 60 ft, but that was at a track with almost no prep (island dragway). I put in a FTRA and SLP lid and went 13.5 at the same track, on a hotter day.

Agreed to mids 13s at Englishtown and Atco other than the middle of the summer. Take the car to Numida and it will nearly be a half second slower, in low 14's, because of altitude.
Need to know track location and DA for starters...

I didn't keep the slip but I do remember that I was going 97mph. The track was famoso raceway in Bakersfield ca and it was at night time around 80-85 degrees outside. I cleaned the MAF sensor today and the throttle body, throttle body had a little bit of oil in it where the hose from the valve cover hooks up. Also checked spark plug condition and it looks as if it was running hot, had a whitish ashy look to it. Ran a compression test while I had the spark plug out and it was 9.9-10 on the gauge. I do have a slp lid and a K&N filter on the car. Then I checked the fuel pressure and it seemed good it was a steady 59-60psi. Bought a new filter and will install that tomorrow.

Even for where your racing, the MPH is down. It should be between 102-105 for a stock car IMHO.

If you're getting a knock sensor reading I'd think it's going to pull power away from the car and that is definitely going to kill the MPH as well.

You should be able to go to a local auto parts store with a scanner and have the codes wiped off or reset. Some codes can also be erased by just simply disconnecting the battery. If you haven't given the car a tuneup in a while it might not hurt to look at that as well (spark plugs, fuel filter, wires, etc.).

For what it's worth, I ran 13.47 at 103.50 mph with a 2.06 60 foot time in typical Florida summer August weather (about 2000-2500 DA) with the stock Goodyear tires and just a K&N panel air filter.

Ok had it dyno tuned in today and it was running real lean and only had 302rwhp. He tuned it in and ended up with 320wrhp and running a lot better. Now I need to take it to the track and see how much it helped. Only crappy thing is our track isn't open for test and tune till November.

Do you have the oiled K&N filter?
