Default do i need a tune for my converter?

i had the car tuned by frost not too long ago, but stumbled across a deal on a FTI 3800. do i need a retune? doesnt bounce off the limiter or anything, but if im leaving speed on the table, ill send it back out. i noticed the converter eats some of the hardness of the shift.

Yes you should still get a retune to adjust things. If you got the Frost tune within the last 90 days he may be able to do another mail tune for free (his policy) that will do a decent enough job.

Mail order tunes are in no way going to give you quite as much benefit as a full tune though

yup def get a retune, it will help out will normal driving characteristics and lockup speed as well maybe firm up your shift points if need be. he may also turn off the tcc slip code in the tranny as it can be set off with a high stall converter. btw how does the fti drive in dd style any vids yet?

FTI stalls (unless it's entirely aimed at strip performance) run great on the street. Whenever I get a passenger in my car I'll get a video but I rarely have passengers and I can't hold a camera and drive at the same time lol (no camera mount)

Mines awesome so far. Locks up right around 42 mph, I noticed that the looseness of the converter eats some of the harshness of the shift, but I love it so far. It's nice to punch it and blow the tires off for a couple hundred feet.

I'm after having a couple of buddies install 3000 stall converters in their F-Bodies, neither one of them got a tune and their cars ran fine.. For example one friend has a 97 Trans-Am with a 3000 redneck and some boltons and ran a 12.95 with no tune.. My other buddy had a 95 Camaro Z28, convertable he installed a 3000 stall, and the car had 273's and he ran a 13.8, and neither one of them never had a problem..

I just bought a 3200 lockup for my Z28, and i was told to get it tuned but i think i'm going to hold off and see what the car will run like, if i have problems i will have no other choice i guess to get it tuned.. What to do?? That's why i like my 2nd gen Firebird, i installed a 3200 FTI, in that car and drove away with a big smile on my face...

Mine also drives fine, but I don't want to leave anything on the table.
