My Supervic had a strip of metal attached to where it meets the china walls to take up that extra space. After all the porting and milling the gap must have been huge, since its a fairly thick strip...you may need something similar. I can take a pic of it if you want.
I don't know if I'd even bother trying to run it like that since a nasty leak there will make a mess of your tranny and headers.

aren't you supposed to use those annoying thick rubber gaskets on the front and back? i personally couldn't get them to seat right cause one side would always squish out

Yea that is quite a gap but The Right Stuff will fix it, I've seen a Top Alcohol motor torn down that had quite a large gap that they filled in the same place with a piece of metal and The Right Stuff.
