Default bought 8.8 Starting build up

Long story short bought an 8.8 from a member here that was from a mustang and was cut down already and came with Fbody axle tubes, so i jumped on it. Didnt see the bearing caps in the pic but didnt think about it. Recieved the caps and contacted the seller and he isnt responding anymore. I have heard you cannot mix caps but i dont know for sure. Can anybody chime in and help me or am i screwed?

Kenny

You are not screwed. You can buy billet caps for the 8.8 but they must be machined. Check here. So all the 8.8 caps must not be interchangeable.

Nope, stock driveshaft with a conversion joint fits fine (see my build thread for details on the universal). A lot of guys will recommend an upgraded driveshaft.

The caps are machined specific to the housing. When you buy new caps you will have to have them honed or something so the ID is even all the way around.

See the link I provided above. At least with Mark Williams caps you need to mill the mating surface. It's not like main caps or rod caps where you need to machine the bore with the cap installed.

My cousin with a lathe is gonna turn down the tubes for me, unfortenatly he cant get to them for a couple of weeks.

Go do some digging their is half a dozen or so 8.8 builds on the first couple of pages, Just got to see what you can find and like it.
