Budget build for boost. 5.3 or 6.0?
Looking for a budget build for a reliable 800-850 RWHP. I've got the turbo decided between the S475 and the PTE7675. I want this car to run on pump gas, but plan on using an FMIC, and the help of meth injection.
My question is, which should I go with and why for a budget build to achieve my power goals? The 5.3 or the 6.0? What's the price difference?

300 bucks and 1000ish.
Are you going with a forged rotating assembly? Because a stock 5.3 probably isn't going to land you 800 rwhp, but the 6.0s bigger bore is going to get you there easier

Well I don't want to go through all of this and find in the end I wasn't able to hit my goal. I'd gladly do the 6.0 if it is the difference between hitting my goal and not.
My next question is, where do guys go for getting the blocks? Is that $300 ish for the 5.3 and $1000 ish for the 6.0 accurate? I thought they were closer in price for some reason.

To be specific to my original question, I'm looking for the cheapest way to make reliable 850 RWHP. But I can't stress enough that for my build, the priority is reliability more than it is budget.
I think this can be done best with going with the 6.0 over the 5.3 for this power range. I think if I had 600-700 RWHP that the 5.3 may be more better suited, but the 6.0 just gives me some more options and power all for barely any more money in the end.
I think for my build, and anyone else contemplating similar goals, that a 6.0 with rod bolts, main/head studs and some good rods and pistons should be the best way to go for reliability over the 800 RWHP for the least money spent.

if you are starting from scratch it doesnt matter... 5.3 or 6.0. size your turbo accordingly. a pt7675 on a 5.3 will get you 850 rwhp and spool awesome. i prefer a 5.3 because theyre cheap as hell and the thick bore helps keep everything nice and solid IMO. mine has to be making 700 rwhp and i beat the snot out of it. i think the only weak part of these motors is the stock bearings. i can see them being chewed when i cut the filter apart haha..
