Default Making my own LS1 Standalone harness and How to wire the Bussmann Fuse/Relay Box

I am making my own LS1 stand alone harness out of my 99 Z28 Camaro wiring harness. I have seen a few people using this for my relay panel and fuse box, but I am not sure what to use to wire the terminals? I have heard that you need to use Metri-Pack 280, but I haven't found a clear yes or no. Here is a link to the one I wanted to purchase, and wire into my my harness.

http://www.waytekwire.com/item/46343...RO-RELAY-RTMR/

Can someone help me out on where to buy a "starter kit" to wire the Bussmann into my stock harness?

Thanks,
Ryan

I used a Bussman panel and yes it uses Metri-pack 280. On the link you provided to the your panel, click the Catalog Page link and it will take you here, http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/wayt.../#/133/OnePage , which lists all the terminal ends, seals, micro relays and recommended crimper you will need.

I also bought 18 gauge red and 18 gauge white wire from Waytek. It was way more wire than I needed, but there prices are great and there shipping is cheap.

I ended up using the 46344, which is the unbussed version of the panel as I need some battery power and ignition powered circuits.

I used one too - yes Metripack 280 and as said there is no "kit" you buy what you need.

It's a little more work to do the un-bussed panel but worth it since it becomes exactly what you want/need instead of what someone else thought you needed.

Thanks for the tips! I am going to do a little research, but should be making a purchase soon. They do have great prices at Way Tek.

What the hell is up with all the extra zeros at the end of the prices on Waytek though? Like $27.1200 = $27.12

Or like price of wire

Qty= 500.0 Price= $0.3194

If anyone is looking Ive been getting 16ga & 18ga TXL grade wire from ebay. Member id autowiringsolutions_aws

18awg at $0.15 per foot and a few colors of 16awg at $0.20 per foot

I cannot post it publicly because it would violate forum sponsor rules. Anyone can pm me and I can help them out.

I will post up my progress as I am building my harness. Oh, and I am pretty sure that I paid .07 cents per foot at waytek for the 18 gauge wire. Although they have a minimum purchase amount.

x2 I think this is haunting me the most about doing the swap as I can't spend 500 on a premaid harness

I'll just add that that Bussman fuse / relay terminal is a really high quality piece. I used one in my conversion and was very happy with it. GM even has a turn signal flasher that will fit into that block. On my next swap I plan to use one for the car and one for the engine.

Hi all;

For the ones that used the bussmann boxes.
Do you happen to have a diagram for your designs?

Thanks!

Identify the circuits needed from OEM wiring diagrams that match your motor/trans and go from there. As long as you maintain circuit protection same as factory there's no right or wrong.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. Has anyone used the bussed version of this panel for their swap? What is the major drawback of using this over the un-bussed?

We have used a thousand + of the bussed bussman box for stand alone harnesses. We use the one with bussed fuses only. It makes it easy to put battery + on the rear stud. The terms are metri pack tangless 280. The reason that the pricing is carried out to 4 digits is so you will get an exact cost if buying thousands. Rounding up or down pennies becomes a big number when buying in large quantities.

Awesome, I appreciate the info. Also are you using the Micro or Mini relays?
