2014 Corvette C7 teaser vid
Found this jewel today. Does not answer many questions other than it will have hood air extractor inserts. We do know the only two parts being reused are the cabin air filter and removable roof panel (supposedly) but apparently it is all new. It is also going to be 300 lbs lighter and have displacement on demand (cylinder shutoff) on top of that to avoid gas guzzler tax and make sure that the fuel regulations are met. May explain the reasoning behind a 7 speed manual.
Considering the motor will be a 6.2 liter....I am thinking the compression will be bumped somehow to help make at least a little more horsepower or at least the same as the current ls3. I am just wondering how that will fair for all the guys looking to go boosted with the application asap. The shitty thing about this car is its not supposed to be available until late 2013 or 2014 even. Alot of this can just be considered speculation, but we will see on 1-13-13 when its official reveal is done in Michigan.
motor specs released 10-24-12 ( go figure 1 day later lol) http://www.lsxtv.com/tech-stories/en...-block-reveal/
(supposedly the only shot of the new motor per lsxtv among others.
from what I can tell from this video....it will still have 4 exhaust pipes. which is great
10 spoke wheels. star pattern.
the obvious new design of the flags.
it may (kinda blurry when it shows it......have the LED lighting under the headlamps....kinda of like audi's
and from the other vids I have seen the seats look as if they are a bit more sporty and race inspired.
we can only hope the followed up with the interior this time around. considering the c6 has been out for 8 years it sure would be nice.
the weight savings can be attributed to a shorter and less wide overall design. use of materials, carbon fiber, aluminium etc.....larger front grille

Motor is not going to be a 5.X liter, I don't know why so many people consider that a fact. I'm not a fan of their cylinder shutoff system; my cam'd LS3 will still get 32mpg on the highway, and current Corvettes (other than ZR1) are a ways from having to pay a gas guzzler tax as is. I do like the 7-speed idea though, I would love a close ratio 6-speed that hits ~220 at the limiter+7th for the highway.
GM said this car is going to have two items shared with the current Corvette, my guess is it's keeping the 6.2L and NPP. That's a total shot-in-the-dark guess, but I really doubt displacement is going down.

hey im with you. would love for the cubes to stay the same or go up. i mean dodge has its 392 now. no reason the vette should not add a few cubes. keep the compression around 10:1.
id be looking for mid to low 11's. meaning it should be fairly comparable to the current z06 given its weight and refinements. they are really out to reinforce their image as one of the worlds greatest sports cars and further project themselves into the over glorified world of super expensive exotics.

DOD is sooooooooo dumb. I can see why they do it, for no gas guzzler tax, but when people go to change cams they are all going to bitch and moan about how much it is. I'm personally just not a fan of it. No need to flame.

The guy in the picture is a member of C5 and has confirmed that it will not have a 5.5 because that is a race only displacement. The 6.2 and 5.3 will be the size of the new di engines. I can only imagine how fast the new vette will be with more power, an extra gear AND 300lbs less!!!!

What are they taking their 300lb from? A base C6 tips in at 3200lbs with a full tank of gas, I really doubt the C7 is going to be any less than 3100lbs, which is still 300lbs lighter than a ZR1.

Direct injection, DOD and weight loss are all great benefits for the vast majority of Corvette buyers. Improved gas mileage and improved braking and handling are far more important then the ease of doing a cam swap for the majority of Corvette buyers and potential buyers.

If anyone has been following the C7 threads on Corvette forum, a CAD picture of the rear section was leaked. It looks like a Mexico bodykit that belongs on a Civic.
The DI 5.5 is going to be a PITA for us guys who like to mod. You're going to need an extra fuel rail and controller (at least early on).
The prototypes shown for scale of the car smaller than the C6. They look miniscule (a little bigger than a BRZ and Genesis).
You would think with all the money GM received from our tax dollars they'd make a classy looking car.

I don't get why they are going back to 80s body lines! You could draw the whole car with a straight edge. Curves have ALWAYS been more sexy than angles, except with Lamborghini's. Although the Miura could bring that into question
Maybe it's just me, but I think this is going to tie the C4 as the ugliest Corvette body style. I have a feeling the strong sales of the ugly 5th gen Camaro is what made them go for this body style.
