Default "Pandalloy Powered" Ford GT goes 283 mph in the Standing Mile

www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ODBL2r0vwA
So... apparently this happened.

This Ford GT, built by Performance Power Racing, went 283.2 mph in the standing mile! ...but it wasn't at the Texas Mile, it was earlier this month at a NASA runway. They even made it legit, with an official record, confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records!

2012 Guiness World Record 283.232 mph! | Performance Power Racing

They also broke the record for fastest standing-mile Corvette (252 mph), and first Corvette to reach 250 mph in the standing mile!

PPR Vette IMRA Record / 1st to 250mph | Performance Power Racing

I have to agree. Looking at what it has taken other cars to get where they are at, this GT would need like 2500-3000whp to hit 283 in the mile. I would have to see it run against some of the other mile cars at Texas in order to believe it.

Yeah, I suppose I can hire a girl and print a thing and show a couple shots of a car and claim what I want too lol. Wouldnt they need a backup run or somethin to take out the account of wind?

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/...-center-45612/

The run was measured by Tag Heuer timing equipment and verified by officials from the International Mile Racing Association, who recognized the run as a new IMRA world record
Just saying.

I do wonder if they have to make 2 runs and average out the speeds like they do for the fastest car in the world stuff out in the salt flats. If not just find you a bad *** tailwind and GO!

LOL at 252@975whp and 283@~1600whp!! The UGR car that went 252 in Texas was making about 1700-1800whp. The Camaro and the FGT that went 263 in Texas both had to have been in the 2000whp range, and to add 20mph on top of that has to take at least another 500hp.

This is the biggest croc of **** I've seen in a while. Same guy claimed his GT ran 260+ a couple years ago. He brought it to Texas and could barely hit 220mph. Now he owns the sanctioning body, timing equipment, and car.

This is an absolute insult to all the standing mile racers at the Maxton, Ohio, Texas, and Mohavie Mile and regardless of what some book says, it will hold no merit with the LSR guys.

No problem, he's a big fan for sure. He even says..."the 283 wasn't even on kill"..lol. Ok. I was trying to reason with him, up until I heard the "250" claim.

Re-read what you just posted. The one that hit 263 in the mile was pushing a whole lot more than 1000hp, their 1000hp kit according to them is only good for a 245mph top speed, which would take much more than a mile to get to with only 1000hp.
