Default 408 turbo cam recommendations

I have an LQ block based 408. It has forged crank, rods, pistons, 9.5 to 9.7 compression ratio, CNC ported ProComp L92 heads with 2.2 intake valves, Victor Jr. intake. It will be in a car that weighs about 2500 pounds and will have a 3000 stall converter and a Powerglide. It will be used for mainly cruises, drags and a few trips to Mexico for some rollin'.

What is a good cam recommendation that will be under .630 lift and still make good power?

I know I should just call the cam company but I would like some general experiences and recommendations?

3000 stall and a powerglide?

Whats more important... the high speed strolling or drag racing?

What turbocharger(s)?

Sorry, I forgot to add that it will have an 88mm turbo. It is not installed in the car yet as I am just building the engine. Probably a PT88 turbo, T6 flange. Drags and rollin are the most important. I am guessing that my converter will be about 3000 stall. It may be more depending upon the torque of the engine.

Your cam guy and your converter guy should be best friends.

The PT88 is too small on the turbine side. It will choke on a 408 pretty early. Like 6500 or soomer.

Youve got a head thatll breathe and a shortblock capable of 7200+...

My suggestion.... GT5518R from Garrett.

235/242 @.050 114+5 on the cam

Call Lenny at UCC for the converter.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not purchased the turbo or made the plumbing yet so that is a good idea on the turbo and cam. I will contact the cam manufacturer to see what they recommend.
Thanks again.

If you're talking about calling Comp, don't bother. The advice you just got is miles above anything you will hear from them.

How would a GT91 turbo work on my setup? I see that they are cheaper than the other turbo by quite a bit. The car will wiegh about 2500 pounds to I am not too concerned about quick spool up within reason. Is that cam an off the shelf item or will it need to be custom ordered? Thanks for the guidance, I appreciate it.

No the cam is not off the shelf. Contact Martin at Tick. Tell him I sent you.

Call Jose at forced inductions and talk to him. Tell him the same thing. You need something GT55/S500 so your motor will breathe upstairs.

Dont worry. Its gonna spool quick enough. Youre also talking about 1200 to the ground with a 91mm.

Thats high 7 second quarter mile territory at 2500 pounds...if its optimized for it.
