Default How do I get rid of tree sap on my hood?

When my mom drove my v6 (I had an ls1) she always parked it under a tree and there is a lot of sap on the hood.

You can tell in certain spots she tried to get it off and it looks worse. LOL

What is the best way to get it off? Thanks!

Denatured rubbing alcohol. Rub it till it smells like fresh sap then watch it disappear.

Yup alcohol. I keep a little dollar bottle of purel in my glove box in case I get sap on my car. It works on sap, tar, pretty much anything.

just leave the hood open and then the sap will go on the motor and burn off and give you a fresh pine scent smell

Being that you have a Pewter car, swirl marks don't mean as much to you. But that sponge thing you're talking about is terrible for swirl marks.

I always just use a clay bar for any stubborn bug or other contaminate on the paint.

Hmmm yeah I've never noticed any swirl marks. It's not my favorite color but it sure does hide things well .

Alc/DI mix first w/ plastic razor blade. If that doesn't do it try just alcohol and no Jack Daniels doesn't work. However if you drink enough of the Jack you will no longer be concerned with the tree sap.

Carry on.

Rubbing alcohol works great, you just might have to polish the spot with some 3M Perfect-It or other compound if it dulls the clear a little bit.
