Default 63 Lincoln Continental - 5.3 Turbo Swap

Hey guys thought id start a thread about my next project. had some time to kill so here it goes.

Story time... ok so 5-6 years ago im living in the Springfield, IL area and im at a candle box/seether concert... one or the other. later on my buddy and i went over to get some beers and here is this super nice 63 Continental there that they were raffleing off for a childrens hospital. $5 a ticket...so with greif from my buddy about spending $10 of "beer" money on some old car i wont win....

well i won it!! drove it for a year loved it. but started having drivibilty issues with it. 4 wheel drum brakes sticking. cooling issues. composite time gear issues, electrical, on and on....

well i rewired the whole car so now everything works and works great with a painless kit. but then there it sat for 5 years or so until recently we pulled the engine and trans and crated it up.

any ways i got a 5.3 with 150k on it for $400 in wisconsin. also got a 4L80e with 80k on it from the same place but i had that shipped for $830.

as for the brakes i have started making big brake kits for cars and trucks that the aftermarket has left behind... so i will be making a big brake for this as well... probably a Corvette ZO6 swap again.

Just got off the phone with jegs and ordered the crank spacer, longer bolts, and flex plate to adapt the two together.

whats soon to come is taking the harness off the engine to send out for retrofit to stand alone. id do it but for 250 doll hairs its worth it. gonna pull the heads and inspect... clean... also its a 2000 engine so it has the composite head gaskets and ill swap to MLS ones... also gonna do ARP head stups. as many of you know there are alot of guys making crazy HP out of these things stock. think it was hotrod mag that made 606 crank on pump gas before the knock sensors went nuts??? man i cant wait!!!

i was going to do a 6.0 Powerstroke swap and maybe i will later when i have more time and money but for now.... cant beat this setup for price and drivability

Tuning... i am a HP tuners... "tuner" so thats taken care of.

Fuel... will be e85 compatible, gonna fab my own fuel cell again.

Suspension... stock for now... air ride later

Wheels... dunno yet thought about keeping the 14"ers "sleeper" but wont fit the big brakes. probably 20x9's and 20x10s-12s with a mini tub...

ill post some pics so you all can see whats going on.

thanks for reading

This thing still alive? Going to start a similar project soon and I'm brainstorming the rear steer/oil pan issue. I'm thinking it will have to be dry sump or maybe a shallow corvette pan and mount the engine a bit higher than normal.

Between the steering box location and the drag link/pitman arm, a genIII swap is going to be difficult. Adding a turbo will only compound the problem! That said, I'm likely to end up with a 80mm on the 6.0L I already have. Currently shopping for a basket-case '67 Lincoln.

I'll see if I can find more pics and post them. It allows use of one belt for everything.

Very cool...can't wait to see what you do about the oilpan and steering. I found this car and studied the pictures of the engine install. Looks like they removed the stock AC box and set the engine back as far as possible. Curious what pan they used or if they fabbed something special. I can tell from the power steering box still being there that the stock steering is retained.

I've been looking for a few days for a car. I have a few promising leads.

Um what?
Is there someone that makes that? I was thinking ZO6 or ZR1. But my buddy says there is a bunch of work to use a zr1 in a 2000 5.3?
