Looking for some help steering hits oil pan
Got a 72 camaro installing a ls6 with the GM muscle car oil pan. My passanger side inner tie rod hits on the pan. Has anyone else ran into this?

This is common, you will need to raise the engine up a bit or notch the oil pan to clear.
Some have added steering stops, changed rod end (no grease fittings) and also changing to a different pan sometimes helps.
If you research the A-Body swaps, many have had this issue.

I took some 1/8" steel plate cut it to fit under the frame mounts and welded them onto the from drilled the three holes and bolted the frame mounts down every thing clears fine but now have to bend the headers down a bit more.

I'm trying to envision how the steering even comes close to the oil pan. Mine dropped right in to the stock location without any issues. I mocked it up with the original TH350 mounted to the cross member, and welded in aftermarket solid lower mounts. I did have to put an extra bend in the PS hose to keep it away from the inner tie rod, but that was about it. I don't think our frames are too different. I went with a corvette front drive and batwing pan in mine.

If you notice jlynch799's pan.. it has a very deep front sump. whcih hung down pretty low as compared to a LS1 F-Body pan.
Of all of the OEM Pan's... only the F-Body pan has a shorter depth front sump, which also requires the use of the 3/4 lenght windage tray.
When I when from a F-Body pan to the CTS-V, I had to rasie my engine up. I am trying to find sometime now to pull my engine and go back to the F-Body pan, caused I bottomed out on it and its now cracked.

That sucks. I think the best option is just to pay a couple extra bucks and get the holley pan (which is the retrolsx pan, right? Didn't they buy that guy's design?). Budget builds are fine but sometimes you gotta stop being cheap, and I say that as someone running a cts-v pan looking to get the holley (or whatever).
