How do you clean your engine bay!
I want to see other peoples methods of cleaning the engine and engine bay while the engine is in the car. mine is pretty filthy so i want to hear from the chaps that have the skills of cleaning theirs mine has 114k on it and you can only imagine the caked up goop thats in there from my oil leak and my coolent leaking from the pump i plan on cleaning when ever i get my new water pump and cam install.

I've read those same things, but it's always seemed like more of a theoretical problem. I've done the degreaser/scrub/spray thing lots of times without any problems. Can you screw something up? Theoretically, yes. But I'm going to speculate that the odds are pretty small.

i dont pressure wash, i just get a good bucket of dish soapy water
with a good scrub brush and hose the engine down and whatever else
you want cleaning, scrub it all down, and hose it off... can even use
"gunk" engine cleaner, dont focus the water spray on the fuse boxes
or pcm area...or cover them up with plastic bags.

Seems like every time I would clean my engine bay, my alt would get wet and overcharge... peg out the voltage gauge. Ended up blowing both headlights once, setting off dash lights and all kinds of crap. After a couple days it'd dry and be fine again..
Since then I've gotten a new alt, but haven't tried it again yet. Just about scared to lol.
