Any ProComp Motorsports LS1 head users?

Any ProComp Motorsports LS1 head users?
I ran a cross the article in Hot Rod magazine and the heads struck my interest.
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...der_head_test/
^^article right there
Now I know they tested a supplied set of heads from each manufacturer and that scares me. Were these Pro Comp heads a "worked" off the shelf set they sent in to glorify numbers?
I did a search and found not much data on these heads so for those who say "search is your friend" I made the effort to find more data before posting.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My budget is not limited to the cost of these cylinder heads. However I am all in favor for HP per $. If I can make GOOD power with a less expensive cylinder head choice why not. I have never ruled out going against the grain on any product. My vehicles always run good but I do research and match parts that WORK regardless of their price range. The cylinder heads look really good however I know ProComp doesn't have the best rep among racers but I have bought some products with them with good luck. I would probably pass on their electronics but their cylinder heads seem to function. If I went that route I would definitely do a valve job and have the machine shop check the deck for 100% flatness.

Your in luck some one else on the board is trying them out... I am sure if you give it a few weeks he will have it running and can give you a better opinion of how they perform.

I have personally used Pro-Comps water pumps, distributers, and intakes with no issues what so ever. If the price was right and I was on a budget, I dont care where something is made. But if I have the cash, I always stick with the most popular.

I have looked at them at a trade show and they appear to be copies of 243-799 (rough)castings with their D shape exh. ports and more closed off C chambers. They claim 62 cc chambers which is good. They do have oversized swirl steps like stock heads which I think is bad for flow but with some work they likely would make decent flow. 2.02's and 1.60's I Have seen these on ebay for $400 for a bare set.

I can't speak for the LS heads, but I have used their sbc and bbc heads with good success. Also I have bought from the feebay seller that has them for 389 or best offer, quick shipping and no problems. If I knew for sure they would with a 5.3, I would order a set today.

Yeah I am interested in their version with the 2.055 valve that hotrod magazine tested. They threw down 629hp on an engine dyno on a 408 with 11-1 compression and a 232/240 duration cam.
An AFR 245 I believe was the only cylinder head to test higher and it was 631 peak hp
heads tested were TFS, AFR, TEA, DART etc

These are NOT the heads used in the Hot Rod article. These are Procomp 225 CC heads with 2.02"-1.55" valves. It was less than $700 for the pair shipped.

I hate to say it but that's what it looks like, hopefully I am proved wrong with some dyno results but I am not holding my breath.

Mine were the exact heads as the ones tested and had far more CNC markings than that. They actually flowed as advertised. The only thing not as advertised was the combustion chamber which my local and very reputable machine shop measured at 71cc. We milled them down to get compression up to around 10.4-10.5.
