Default Can anyone tell me what these are! help! Pics inside

Hey everyone I bought these springs a month or so ago for a upcoming cam swap on my ss.. ill be going with the TSP 228R

I bought these springs used and was told they were pac .650 and nothing else

they came off a GMPP 243 heads that was on a bored out ls6 engine 416 stroker.

They might not be a PAC spring.

I dont give two ***** what they are as long as I can use them.
they are basically a dual spring with a damper
The reason I need to know is because I was sold 16 springs, 16 valve seats, but only 14 retainers. So im trying to track down two more.

Im hoping someone has seen or used these before and can point me in the right direction.

How many miles were on them? IMHO I would try and get a refund on those... Springs are one thing you can't skimp out on..

You could try sending them to a vendor and try testing one or two of them and they'll know more info on them

Good luck

Any good machine shop can test the spring pressures at installed height and see where coil bind is at

They won't fit a stock spring pocket. The heads they cam off must have had the pockets machined out, those look like 1.44" OD...

My stock 243 head spring pockets are 1.345". That spring in your pic will never seat completely without damaging the head.

They look iffy to me... can't help you though I have no clue what band they are, but they do look to large in diameter.

You'll need to find a shop that can check them first, so you'll know what you have. If they check out OK, you might shop them on Racingjunk or Yellowbullet. Martin would know better, but I don't think the LS heads can be opened up for a larger OD spring w/o getting into the water jackets.

I'm no machinist by any means, but I was unable to run a solid roller camshaft in my new engine build because of this. The diameter of the solid roller springs was larger than the pocket my LS3 heads could accommodate, thus I have to run a hydraulic valve-train.
