Trickflow 220s only have a .600 deck. AFR's .750. RHS heads have a .800 deck.

I've looked at the rhs before bc if I remember the price isn't bad. But I believe they were bare castings.

It's a baby, 207/220 .574/.574 118.5lsa. I am hoping to up that to a 220ish if I can find one reasonable. Gt4788 with the race cover. Not bad for a 5.3 with stock heads

You might be able to run turned down LS3 intake valves and LY6 inconel exhaust valves in the RHS heads. Talk to Brian Tooley. He can hook you up with a cheap spring kit also.

I've had buddies run the TFS 205's and 215's both on turbo 5.3 engines and the 215's actually made more power. Holdener made 1300 hp with 215's on a stock 5.3 shortblock.

Although since the 220 "LS1" heads have the same CNC chamber as the 215 you could consider those also, like LS1NOVA mentioned.

I know the 215's have a lot of chamber to bore overhang, but they seem to work. They even made more power N/A, almost 510 hp.

You could order them through TEA with PM guides so you can run stock rockers. Or you can order them through me to save sales tax.

Could I get just the bare castings from tea? I have springs and ti retainers already, and I have a set of 2.02/1.60 valves already. Hoping to make a cheap upgrade here

You can get them without the spring kit, no problem. The TFS 215's and As Cast 220 LS1 heads require 2.04"/1.575" and the intake valves are VERY specific to that head. Trying to change the intake valves could kill the way the head flows.

You could get the TFS 205's, they use stock 2.00"/1.55" valves, and the stock valves practically flow more than the Ferrea valves they come with. Some 205's with stock hollow stem/sodium filled Z06 valves would be super trick. A buddy of mine ran those exact heads on a 5.3 with a 223/230 cam I did and ran 127 in the 1/8 mile.

I would probably go for the As Cast 220 and at least buy the intake valves, you could have them grind your 1.600" exhaust valves to a 50 degree seat and run them. Otherwise standard 1.600" exhaust valves on that combination will generally make less power.

Brian when you say they have a lot of chamber to bore overhang, how much are they, what are you calling a lot?

I designed the 205 chambers to be 3.90" diameter, which I thought was plenty aggressive for a 3.78" bore.

The 215 chambers have a 3.950" bore to match 5.7 LS1 head gaskets.

I know guys are using 317 heads with 4" bore on these 5.3's with decent results.

I've never liked a lot of chamber to cylinder bore overhang, it just seemed like a bad idea, especially when looking at stuff on a flow bench. But the dyno doesn't lie...
