Default ls1 piston noise

so i think i have some excessive noise from my engine .its not bad but i can here it if i rev it slowly in park from 1000 to 1500 or so.it goes away when the car has been driven about 10 miles.if this is the piston slap noise,is there any thing that anyone has done to reduce the noise?has anyone ever tried anything that works?
i have 20k on my 2001 z28 and run mobile1 10/30. thanks

I too would like to know. I can't tell what noise I have, be it lifters or piston slap but my 2001 Camaro has always been noisey in the same RPM range. Mine however doesn't seem to go away and it's annoying as hell. Chevy replaced my lifters, etc one time but it still did it. Anyone have a solution to this annoying problem. I know it's somewhat common cause of 5 friends that have Camaro's, 3 of us have the problem. Thanks for any insight or suggestions. Even something aftermarket would satisfy my desires. I just want the sound gone cause it annoys me to here the rattling / tapping sound as I drive between buildings and whatnot as it echo's back at me.

My engine is being replaced at this moment under warranty for that and other things. Seems one of the cylinder wall bores were out of spec and they couldn't rebuild it.

if it kinda sounds like a diesel engine when accelerating its piston slap. I freakin hate it but it only happens to me on cold days....no more of that for a while!!!

Yeah, I get it too, it lasts a while, and I can always hear it to some extent at idle. When its cold it does it 1000-1500, then again at around 2500. It goes away after about 10 minutes of driving, but like I said, always does it a tiny bit at idle. I don't have a warrantee anymore, so I'll just deal.

I tried lots of things, but now it's clear why none of them worked. I'm glad they tore into mine finally. I was always convinced something was wrong, I have invoices from a year ago asking about it and now I was proven right.

The piston slap is caused from the rings being gaped to small from what I have heard. As the engine heats up the rings expand a little and lessens the noise. You could have the rings replaced( I dout GM would do it under warranty) but its not really that hard on the engine.

Turn up the stereo! LOL! Seriously I have had it for about two years. It goes away as soon as it is warmed up. I just live with it cause I know its common with other LS1s. I race it weekly! Insane Clown Posse at 3/4 volume works!
