Default 10 bolt strength from a roll

How strong is a 10 bolt with a high HP car with a good tire from a roll. Say a hard 2nd to 3 rd gear shift?

I have yet to see one break solely from roll racing.. Usually the launch that kills 'em.

That's good to hear. I'm on a 10 bolt with 4:10 gears and making 600+ at the wheels. I only have street tires right now but I want to hook better from a roll. I feel like I shouldn't be spinning at 80mph. But I also don't have the money for a new rear yet.

I downshifted from 5th to 3rd at 50 mph and broke the pinion on a 440 rwhp car. but it was abused alot before.

With the power you're making and the speeds you're hitting it at you're playing with fire. I can think of no good outcome of you hooking up with the 10 bolt. Whether it be a broken axle, broken driveshaft or grenaded posi/ring and pinion, any of those happen at highway speed and bad things will happen.
You should stay away from sticky tires till you upgrade the rear end and driveshaft.
