What Valvetrain combo you guys running for cam with over .620 lift?
Just trying to find out what Lifters, Rockers, and Valve Springs you guys are using *WITHOUT* problems? My cam specs are not final, going to wait till I have flow numbers. The cam will be something like what I have in my sig though. My heads are just now being ported but havent been assembled yet so I dont have to go with the comp 921 springs.
Been talking to some sponsors about this and been told that stock rockers will be fine with comp R's cause the aftermarket rockers are not as light as the stock ones.
The Harland Sharp rockers are like stock 1.7 and was thinking about going with those along with the comp R's maybe. Main thing is I dont want to keep changing lifters over and over. Also will I have to use shims with HS rockers?

I'm at 620-630 lift, and am using the comp r's comp adjustable rocker arms, and comp 977's that Jay at absolute setup to avoid coil bind. Motor isn't quite assembled yet, but I hope I don't have any problems.

damn thats crazy, no valve float or anything? How high are you reving this motor to?
Do you guys think If I am only reving this motor to about 6,700 while spraying could I get a way with a stock lifter like comps OEM? I would like to just put the lifters in and put the rockers on and not have to play around with this preload crap or have to use shims.

Thanks, terry. SStroked, I'd either run the stock lifters and use the stock/harlan rockers, or get the comp R's and get adjustable rockers. There is to much hit or miss with the pre-load crap. Then it comes down to the size/harshness of the cam you want. For the cam your wanting, comp r's would be highly reccomended. This would mean getting the adjustable rockers to do it right. Pay to play I guess.

I would either run Patriot or Crane doubles at that lift. I've heard of a few people even using 918s at that lift, but I would look towards a good double like the Patriots or Crane's. You can buy the Patriot kit for $295 with springs, seats, seals & titanium retainers!!

well I have already paid for my head porting along with all the retainers valves and even the comp 921 springs. My main issue is finding a lifter that wont have problems with these springs? I am not sure but with these 921 springs isnt the seat pressure or something like that different then some of the other dual springs? I can still go with another spring but I just thought the 921's were one of the best dual springs to handle .650 lift. Is there anything I might not know about the 921's?
thanks

The stock lifters can be used with any of these valvesprings, if setup correctly.
I have experience with the Comp 921s and the Crane dual springs. Both will work extremely well if you keep the RPMs below 7000rpms.

Also the Harland Sharp roller rockers are about 10 ounces lighter than the stockers with a hole lot less friction. I would rec them anyway you go. The Comp 921 is a great spring will go good with the Comp oe replacment lifters.
