Default 99 Hugger Orange SLP SS

I just purchased a Hugger Orange SS M6 and wanted to show it off a bit! It also has SLP options like the quad cme on it. Its #2845 from SLP!

Looks good.

FYI, center mount exhaust was not an option for 1999. Quad tip was only available via SLP Performance -- not as a Y2Y option via SLP Engineering.

What is the difference between SLP Performance and SLP Engineering? It seems to be that they are one in the same.

SLP Engineering was the entity that made the WU8 conversions for the 4th gen. SLP Engineering no longer exists, actually.

SLP Performance was/is the aftermarket parts entity. The quad exhaust did not come out until 2003, IIRC.

From a Y2Y standpoint, the centermount option wasn't available until 2002. I'd have to go through my brochures to be certain it wasn't a late-'01 option, however. I am certain it wasn't available in '99, though.

Demonspeed is correct. 99's did not have that option. Check your RPO codes on your driver door and look for the wu8 option. That is the SS code. That will tell you, you have a real SS. Then Contact SLP and give them your Vin number and they can tell you if your Camaro has any slp addition content if it is an SS. Car looks good. Congrats

Also, Your CME valence isnt even painted the color of the car. All CME systems that were installed by SLP came as the color of the car. As demonspeed pointed out the quad tip CME was never an option.

I was going to point that out, but it seems to be gloss black on my screen. This could have been done intentionally to match the manta stripe on the hood.

How do you find out the production # on your car?

Sorry for the late reply but thanks everyone! And I called SLP and gave them my vin and they said that exhaust was special ordered back in '99 because I asked specifically about the cme and quad tips, but it is a true SS and had SLP options added to it!

I find it very hard to believe the quad exhaust was available to order in 1999 -- and that anyone would have had the information available to them figure out how to order it when it wasn't ever advertised (if it existed in '99, that is).

I also question if the person at SLP knew exactly what you were referring to. "Back in the day" when I emailed SLP about my 2000 SS, there were still people there who were with SLP Engineering. When I inquired about my 2002 SS last year, I spoke with a woman who said she "just found out what Y2Y was." She couldn't answer why I had Y2Y yet did not have any Y2Y options. I had to reach out to one of the old SLP guys, "JeffY" on the forums, to verify.

I only mention that because someone who doesn't know the intricacies of these cars may assume that when you inquired about CME she was thinking about the '02 option -- and she may have no idea that the Y2Y cars had the dual oval tips as opposed to the SLP Performance Parts quad tips. There was an optional exhaust available in '99 -- it just wasn't the quad-tip CME (as far as "we've" been provided).

Honestly, I'm guessing when one calls SLP to get their build number, they are probably talking to office personnel who are simply looking up a spreadsheet with a list of VINs.

However, I suppose anything is possible. Maybe Dave Hamburger could pop in and verify...

You're most likely right because it was just a lady that seemed like she didn't know much about the car. It was most likely added on because the other ones ive seen the valence were painted the same color as the car. Thanks for the help though cause I was wondering if that came from slp or not!
