Default LS1 Tranny options

I have an LS1 out of what I was told was a 2000ish firebird....
And I'm looking for a tranny.
I have a bellhousing from tremec the goes LT1-T56 to LS1
So I'm assuming the LT1 came with a different T56 than the LS1 and this bellhousing just let's me use the easier to find T56 that came on the LT1s? Or are both those trannys the same and I'm just trippin?

Second question is I found a T56 out of a Cadillac CTS-V
Will this just bolt on with the bellhousing that it comes with or do I need to find an adaptor or something?
It's $1200 that seems like a ok deal? I can't find anything else in Canada
Thanks for any help guys.

you will need to find an lt1 t56 to use the bellhousing you have. i believe the input shafts are different lengths. i dont know about swapping a ctsv input shaft to work with you bellhousing, or if the shifter is going to be in the correct location, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in. and you need to move to America, $1200 and its all you can find???

Are there any other options for transmissions?
Maybe the 5spd that came on the 4.3L?

I'm not worried about braking it...it's going in a little Nissan that won't see tires wider than 205s.

Like the NV3500? People say that it bolts up just need to mod the pilot bearing...
Any feedback on that?

Well it bolts up sorta ... One bolt right up top doesn't line up and one bolt on the oil pan.
Pretty sure I can get away with that.

Just wondering since you could have been close to me cuz I have a T-56 I wont be needing but shipping all the way over there will cost more than the tranny. Lmao

Just with a T-56 bud.

The 3500 is a truck trans. It's taller than the t56 in some areas and will have a boat oar for a shifter. However, it will bolt up just fine to an ls1 as it came stock behind 4.8's in trucks. You will just need a flywheel off a 4.8.
