Default 5.3l 3rd gen swap questions

So I am starting a 5.3l swap in my Iroc and i have a few questions. First the exhaust. Is there any other options for headers than the hawks $6-800 option.
2. will 4th gen shorties or long tubes work
3.will s10 ls swap shorties work

Transmission question. I am running my 700r4 due to being on a budget.
1. what is a good stall speed for this swap.
My car is 100% factory and i dont know what stll is in it.

Third is the fuel system.
1. should i go for the 4th gen tank and line swap
2. do a mid to late 90s gm truck pump and a 97-04 fuel filter.

Thanks for any and all advise!

I am using truck shorty headers make sure you build the trans if it was me I would go pull a 4l80e out a junkyard and be done with it also you will need mounts from hawks third gen fuel go on ebay buy a high pressure walbro 255 and get a corvette fuel filter from your local parts store what intake are you using

I have the ls1 intake. I am on a tight budget and cant spend a bunch of money. All the work i can do my self other than tuning. i just want to get it in and running for as cheap as poss. and work on the big upgrades later. so you used 5.3l truck headers? I am using the Trans Dapt mounts and a GM performace converter spacer to work with the 700r4. other than the fuel exhaust and a an oil pan i am ready to get started.

The engine internals are sock but i did get my hand on a .500 lift cam with a wide LSA. i doo plan on a turbo down the line but like i said i want to get it in and running, beat the crap out of it for about a year work all the bugs out before i start adding things like a turbo. so looking for horsepower around 350 for now should make my car farily qiuck and give it that fun to drive factor that has worn off since i bought it 15 years ago in high school.

Welcome to the swap life. Im doing this in my 89 rs and its a pain lol. Do a quick Google cuz there's A website that covers all areas for the swap. Exhaust: you can use factory 4th gen camaro manifolds. The 01-02 manifolds flow more like shorty headers. You can use factory vette manifolds which flow the best. Fuel: you can use stock ls1 injectors and you'll be fine. 01-02 camaros came with 28# injectors while previous years came with 26#. The 28# injectors can support 400 rwhp no problem. As for the pump I bought a granitelli pump for 125 that pushes 90# of pressure but you'll have to run a regulator. You can run a vette fuel filter cuz that is the regulator for the vettes. But I ran a magnafuel reg. You can get a boost rise reg too for your forced induced build. Pan: go to summit and order one off there. They have one for ls swaps. I got that one and it fits great in my 89. Just so you know if you run a 700 you have to run a Kickdown still or you'll fry the trans. There's A company that makes a Kickdown adapter for a 700 to hook up to the ls1 intake. Ill have to find those links for you

So that Muscle Car pan doesnt hang down to far? I heard that you can use the Lm7 truck shorties. I will need that cable thanks for the links. I found a 4th gen tank with all the fuel lines and evap stuff local for a good price. So i think ill go that route. As for the oil pan i am going to have a buddy of mine that owns a metal shop custom fit the truck pan. Cost to me is $50 to weld it up. better that a used $200+ f body pan. good info so far thanks for the replies! post some pics later

No the engine sat in there quite well. I believe its the same pan kit as what comes stock on 4th gen f-bodies. I don't remember running across anything that says that you can use the lm7 manifolds but camfreak say he does so yeah. I do know everone uses truck manifolds for their turbo build so that could be in your future plans and also I agree with cam freak. Build the trans. Don't be too timid on that, I did mine and it'll hold to 600 hp. But I've got a prety penny spent on it. Btw a summit racing stall will suffice for your build. They're cheaper than other brands and is still of good quality. The 2600 stall will be nice for the street. And if you can get a 4th gen tank go for it. I couldn't find one to get but it'll be cleaner. The reg is in the tank so that's tanken care of. You will have to modify the fill neck cuz its too short to fit. Other than that its a direct swap. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Good luck
