Default camaro rack and pinion install

Hello, can anybody advise how labor intensive it is to replace DIY. Any special tools required? Do the front wheels need to be removed?

Thanks in advance

the hardest part is the drivers side bolt......you can lift the engine to clear bolt removal.......or you can cut it.......other than that its not hard

there are many threads on the subject

make sure when you reinstall it, put the bolt in up side down with the nut on top so you dont have to chop away next time.

Yes, you should remove the front wheels. Need to unbolt the tie rod from the knuckle.

thanks to all for responses, one more thing-i see they offer rebuild kits for R&P, is that a smart option$$ ? Do they require removal of unit or can they be fixed w/o going through whole removal process??

Given the lack of space it would almost seem easier to just buy a rebuilt rack and swap it.

I say use a small grinder and a cut off wheel to remove the bolt.use loctite on the new bolt.
