Default Denmah inspired 82 Fairmont Futura turbo build decide to go with a big single!!

Hi guys Im starting a new budget build. Big thanks to Denmah for inspiring me to build one of these beasts. The car is a 1982 Ford Fairmont Futura four door. Sun faded baby **** brown in color... oh ya!! inline six cylinders of fury, and factory a/c. Drove this baby almost 300 miles home from where I picked it up with crappy brakes, the float sticking open in the single barrel, (fun in stop and go traffic) and tires that i could not belive even held any air, but at $350 i cant complain, besides the cruise controll worked lol.

Here is a pic from right where i bought it

So my plans are to build a twin turbo budget sleeper using lots of ebay parts here is what i got so far.

-07 4.8l ls engine
-98 4l80e "center oiler" transmission Im going to need some help, and advise getting this to work with a microsquirt controller
-All the front, 8.8 rear, and brakes out of a 94 mustang gt
-Microsquirt ecm modded to run lsx waste spark, still need on for 80e
-KMJ head studs
-ls9 head gaskets
-Two cxracing gt35 turbos t4 turbine .68a/r they are the anti surge ported ones.
-31 spline axles with c-clip elimantors
-and a bunch of misc parts from my truck build

Well i think this is a good start on my way to doing mean burnouts!!! Ill keep everyone updated on the build, and look foward to getting, and sharing budget building info, definitly wont get done as fast a Demah lol. My Dad and I build and sell turbo kits for Yamaha Raptor 700 quads, and I built a turbo kit for my 07 silverado, so i have been around the turbo stuff a bit.

Here are a few pics of the turbos im going to be using

I can send you a wiring diagram for the Microsquirt to control the 4l80e, later this week, it is really simple. I can also send you a base calibration(based of of my microsquirt 4l80e install), and the files to upload on the Micro to control the tranny.

That 07 may be a little different wiring than the stuff I have been showing Matt, I believe that it has the 58 tooth crank reluctor, instead of the 24x stuff Denmah has been using. Should not be a big deal, but just be aware.

Should be pretty cool, aren't all Turbo Fairmonts??

Thanks guys really excited to get this beast going.

Atomic 6 thanks in advance for the help with the micro 80e that would be awesome. I read somewhere you posted it can be wired in to the engine microsquirt to do boost by gear, and some other neat stuff...

Isn't there an easy way to externally identify the 24x vs the 58x tooth reluctor ?

Denmah hope you get all the bugs worked out on the 2500. Right after I bought the cxracing turbos I read on the sloppy mechanics site that you were running the same ones on the truck. Hope the anti surge ported compressor covers work out ok for me.

Nevermind it was out of an 07 classic so it should be a 24x.

These are what I'm familiar with building, and since they have turbos on them I figured it would be ok to post a couple pics in the forced induction section.

Looking forward to seeing this build come together! Curious on the 80e via microsquirt as well. any links I could read up on? can this be done with just one microsquirt or are two units required?

We use a gt28/25 combo that works great. Most the kits we sell go on stock engines that start out at 42rwhp before the turbo kit and end up right around 90rwhp at around 10-13 psi, and we do built engines that make 150+ hp and over 100 ft lbs of torque they are a blast to ride, and are hard to hold on to when getting into a lot of boost.

13mm exhaust manifold bolts and 13mm lifter valley bolts usually means gen4

knock sensors on the sides of the block easily answers it, along with front read cam.

if its rear read cam, (sensor in the back of the lifter valley top of the motor) then its still a gen3

I will be using two microsquirts on this build one for the engine, and one for the transmission they will be connected together, so I can program both at the same time.

Yeah it has the cam sensor in the back, and the knock sensors in the valley tray. I should of remembered that cause I put a cam in it about 4/5 years ago.

Get that beast on the dyno ha... I'm anxious to find out how much power you are putting down too.

thanks for the clarification. I was doing some more searching, assuming this how you plan on wiring it?

Yeah I will be wiring it up like the link shows. It will be my first time using a microsquirt for engine, and trans. I had a stock ECM in my turbo truck, with 2 bar sd, and trans segment swap, after a lot of reasearch and learning about the mega/ microsquirts I've decided they are the way to go for me.
