The pistons are cast eutectic aluminum, the rods are powdered metal, and the cranks is nodular iron. Hope this helps.

All motors can handle some spray some of the time. What kind of condition is the motor in? Are there leaks, are you burning oil, any noises? 150 is pretty much the limitation but thats pushing it in most cases. Like I said a lot depends on the condition of the motor. If you want to spray safely what you need to focus on (if you want the motor to last) is on keeping away detonation by either pulling timing as needed, using higher octane fuel, and all your nitrous safety equipment like rpm switch and shut off valves. Make sure your fuel system is up to snuff or you'll run lean for sure and shatter a piston. I would add an inline fuel pump or replace the intank one as these are usually the weak link. You may also need bigger injectors as well to keep up with the demand if they are nearing the end of their duty cycle.

+1 on that above. depends on condition. alot of people run 150 shot but i personally wouldnt go over 100 shot... but im a conservative and dont wanna prematurley rebuild my engine for the extra 50.

Motor has roughly 10k on it. Like I said its the LQ4 with the stock 317 heads, MS3 Cam, LS6 Intake, Racetronix 63 lb. injectors (NEW), Racetronix Pump w/ Hot wire Kit (NEW), Window switch for NOS, WOT switch on Throttle Body for NOS, Purge Kit, Bottle Heater, BTW its a plate kit not a direct port.... Umm if you need more info let me kno but I think thats about it and as far as pulling timing my tuning guy is doing that by grounding the PCM when the Nitrous arming switch is engaged pulling however many deg. of timing needs pulled and adding the extra fuel as well.. Bc obv with NOS you MUST pull timing and add fuel.. Rev limiter has been bumped up to close to 7000 and shift points for auto tranny are being adjusted to prevent backfire/detonation.. Far as the window switch goes we have the NOS coming in at 32-3300 and shutting off at 65-6600 I believe.. We are trying to make this as safe as we possibly can..

Oh and to answer other questions I forgot.. Like I said motor has roughly 10K on it.. Its in great shape and doesnt leak a drop of fluid or burn any oil as far as I know.. Makes no noise other then hearing the air being sucked into the SLP lid and the rough lobe from MS3 cam with the LTs and the Borlas to finish it up.. HAHA In MY opinion the car runs/sounds great and has great driveability along with some decent power... Cant wait for the NOS to be completed and tuned and see the power it makes then..

Love my TOYZ..!!!

Thank you ALL.. This is an amazing site and hopefully ill be able to help someone with my input some day....

Well Im saying hes raising my rev limiter to 7000 and adjusting my shift points to around 65-6600 to that to prevent that from happening but obv well have the NOS turned off before shifting to prevent detonation and a possible backfire..!!

Yes Cam is currently in the car the thing idled and ran like **** and my tuner adjusted some stuff and it has a great idle and the driveability is awsome on the car.. Love that Cam it wakes up in the higher RPM range..

It sounds like you have yourself quite a stout setup. You're probably right with the compression ratio because the 317s have a bigger combustion chamber. If your compression is that low thats good for the spray setup. Good call on replacing the weak stock pushrods, especially if you've up the rev limit. One missed shift or keeping the widow open too high will bend that crap out of the pushrods. If you haven't had it run on a dyno yet I would have them check to see if you're still making power up to 7k, I would think those heads are maxed out around 6200 rpm. I am a fan of the idea of an enrichment cell, this way you can make great NA power and still have enough to octane to add without pulling to much timing or having too exotic of a tune.

well everything sounds good. what rwhp are u putting down right now without the 150 shot? stock internal are good to 550 or so. any work to the trans or rear diff? remember the rear diff is the weakest link especially launching with a stall convertor at high rpms. my buddy tore apart his rear diff with a stock m6 launching. and i also agree with egod to check power on the dyno to see where u max out on rpms.

Car has not yet been on the dyno my tuner does everything on a laptop while road tuning the cars.. He lives in the country area here in NE Ohio with alot of smooth flat roads around him.. Dynos scare me BC im afraid it will just be a disappointment to me.. HAHA But as far as that cam goes it pulls well into the 6500 range in my set up.. Im assuming dift cams work dift in every car w each dift motor and dift supporting mods...???? Were planning on cutting power and juice like I said rite around 65-6600 range... Car runs good though N/A so well see what it does on juice, its def a pretty stout setup for a street car..
