NEW(to me) Black 1998 Formula Firebird!
Bought it this week, first F-body also!
Car was a deal i couldn't pass up. Mileage is kinda high but it was well taken care of, mechanically speaking, has some appearance things that need fixing but nothing too drastic

Well, with 308,000 miles on the original LS1 i don't think i'm going to be doing anything extensive with it anytime soon. Tint and paint are going to be my first worries, the front is peeling quite badly, then wheels tires and lower it. Maybe some pacesetter LTs and TSP true duals to round it out. Won't be putting any power modifications, other than a lid, on it until she gives up the ghost!

Formulas are the perfect sleeper car. Are those the original seats? They look slightly different than the ones in my 2002 Formula.

Having seen the car in person, I'm impressed. I expected him to get back into town with a saggy headliner, busted panels, and lots of bondo. Shows up and none of the typical bird stuff is broken. Headliner, fine. Tailights, match. Door panels, intact. All interior pieces are there. The seats have a strange leather wrap to them that made me wonder if they were redone or maybe 98 formula specific. Other than needing a paint job its pretty solid. I'm just glad someone around me is getting into an ls1 fbody.

There wasn't anything different in the seats, option wise, between a Formula, Trans Am, or base model Firebird, and '98 was no different from '99... other than the Trans Am's "articulating" seat option (AQ9). Other than some specific GM promo cars, Formulas got the same thing as Firebirds...

Did I hear someone say Formula? Sweet looking ride, wish mine was a 6 speed.
As for the differences in years, here is a link to a complete list if you guys are interested.

Thanks for all the Bird love guys! haha. Gluemaker and I installed a B&M shifter in the car today and must say it is a vast improvement over the stocker

Welcome to the club! Always good to see another Formula. If you don't mind me asking....how much did you pay for her? Just curious. I'm constantly on Craigslist looking at what people are asking for their Birds. I see some really sweet deals sometimes. Anyway...welcome to the forum!

Nice find. I just acquired a 98 formula as well. Long story short I traded a treadmill for the car. Put a battery in it fired it up and drove it home. So far only thing it needs is gas and some new shocks. Crazy deal. It has 195000 miles on it. Paint is not terrible and everything but the power antenna works.
