lost oil press

What were you doing when you lost oil pressure? And make a sig so we know what engine/year you're talking about. How many miles?
If it is an LT1 then check the oil pressure sensor in the back, oil level. If all is well then it may be time to yank the engine.

Well if you have a bad bearing, typically it will make a sound. First thing would be to hook up a mechanical gauge and make sure it's not just a faulty sensor or bad wiring. Also need more info on what oil pressure you have, acceptable oil pressure in an LT1 is much lower than you might think. Of course if you're oil pressure is dropping during increased loads would be helpful.

I have a 97 z28 stock motor 131,000 miles. I was driving home when I heard the valves taping after a few more miles it got noticeably louder and the idiot light came on oil press was at 0. I pulled into a gas station and checked the oil and topped it off. Still sounds like it's not getting any oil. Car has been sitting for almost a year since. The car sat for about a year prior until I intalled the new opti and water pump. I have put maybe about 1000 to 1500 miles on this oil change in the last 3 years..

If the lifters are clattering, you've got no oil pressure. Don't start the engine and do any more damage. Pull the intake, and then remove the oil pump drive gear and inspect it. See if it's stripped. If not, possibly the plastic collar that holds the pump's drive shaft broke, allowing the shaft to be displaced, and it's not turning the pump. If that's the case, you'll have to drop the oil pan and dig deeper...

If it wasn't making any weird noises the first thing I'd do is put a manual oil pressure gauge on it. There is no reason to pull the manifold if all that happened was an electric sending unit went bad.

I ran about 2 miles shut it down called AAA and argued with the Guy about sending a roll back. But it does sound like there is no oil. I'm replacing the oil drive this weekend and doing the timing cover gaskets while I have it apart.
