Default bolt on l98 corvette vs bolt on lt1 trans am

Hey guy im getting my trans done and some local guy wagered me some cash for a grudge match between his tpi corvette vs my 1996 trans am

trans am has the following
EWP
Pacesetter longtubes
ORY pipe no cats
dynomax bullet dumped
1.6rr
4.10's
welds and drag radials
CAI
yank 3600

corvette
longtubes/full exhaust
3200 converter
4.10's IIRC
EWP
some intake mods, like slp runners or something
msd ignition
zo6 wheels with drag radials

Its not a slow car, and if im not mistaken those l98 cars can go into the 12's with bolt on's, and im sure its lighter than my car. Think i can pull it off??

I think it'll take a cam for the Vette to run in the 12's. Should be close but you should have several tenths on him as long as you hook. The Vette will be out of gas at about 5200 rpms and the moment he shifts it's over.

Yeah i figured i could beat him. Those c4's do like nice with some wide zo6 wheels. I do think he and i should be close out of the gate.

I would put money down, if you don't wipe the floor with him something's wrong with your car.

The 89 Formula 350 I use to run would make power just fine to 5500 with bone tpi parts (and stock cam). Sure the power probably leveled off alot earlier than that, but it did not "nose over" at 4500 to 5000 rpm like so many report. I think too many people don't realize that just because those long runners peak quick doesn't mean the power curve can't just level off and extend for awhile. Depending on what intake mods he does have.....it could easily pull up near 6000 rpm.

All that being said..I still think you should be able to beat him. It'll probably really come down to which of you is the best driver.

He'll be able to hole shot the **** out of you if he can drive and get traction, but will be out of power 100' out.

the vette probably isn't going to be as bad as everyone says. I have 2 one stock with auto and the other some mods. it isn't to hard to wake them up. I think it should be a close race.
