Plasti-Dip Headlight mod.. V1
Well, I had a little free time and a can of plasti-dip (never a good combo) Luckily I didn't have THAT much free time and didn't go crazy with it...
Ended up just doing the outline of the headlights, it looks OK. I like it in the shade but it looks goofy in direct sunlight because the insides of the housings are still gray.. Now that I think about it I probably should've just done a very light tint on the headlight then the outline... Anyway here's some pics:
Taping and spraying:
Only did two coats and peeled the tape off while it was still wet. Wasn't sure how well the tape would pull after the plati-dip set up...
Left side: Dipped
Right side: Stock
Finished product...
Thoughts?

Maybe its just me, but I think $5 cans of aerosol rubber should get nowhere near any luxury sports car. Seems like something fit for a civic or saturn.

I do agree with you there.. This is more of a test run to see what it would turn out like...

Agreed more or less. There are a handful of applications where it has it's niche. One thing that it works great for is determining whether or not you actually want to go ahead and paint something. If he decides he doesn't like the black, then it just peels right off.

looks good except for the amber lenses and chrome grill surround. I think if you did a brushed aluminum finish on the grill surround to match the forgestars it would be money

Maybe some translucent black, like a smoke or tint, to the lens would be less "in your face."
Its probably more work than youre looking to do, but Ive taken light assemblies apart in the past to remove amber pieces, paint surrounds, etc. Do it right or leave it alone. My motto is that it should look like it could have come from the factory - something only another enthusiast can tell is different.
