Default does this sleeve look crooked?

what ups Techies. looking for a extra set of eye ***** if u aint got **** to do.

""this **** right here be a l92 that ate a valve and dug a big *** groove in #6 hole.""
ya dig.

i just picked up the block today from a local machine shop. i had him put one sleeve in. - he said he does it all the time"quote- unquote"

this is the first motor that i ever put a replacement sleeve in.

does this **** look normal? it just seems to me the piston will be slightly off a few degrees. hence rubbing the cylinder at angle...which equates to premature KABOOM...

yeah the sleeve does look a little off, but maybe he had to do it that way to make if symetrical to the other bores? i see you responded to that other thread where a machinist said he would not do it on the ls2 or ls3's without atleast doing the whole bank of cylinders on that side...

did you ever PM him or see what he had to say?

it looks off, did you get a paper from the machinist with all of the measurements?

nope - no paperwork.

i see what your saying about aligning it to the other sleeves.

but i looked at all the other sleeves- and there perfectly "centered"

i duno what to do here. i will call them in the morning and see what he has to say..

on top of that i just went out side with a dial bore gauge and a flash light.
The bore sizes CAME IN AT 4.068-4.069
thats .004 loose!!!!!! from the factory 4.065--- WTF

i mic the pistons that came out of the block. - 4.063

SITUATION IS NOT looking good...

piston and pin weight is 640 grams..
do you guys know if anyone makes a aftermarket overbore piston that weights the same?

Hmmm .006 PTW clearance is really big, even most turbo guys with 2618 alum pistons don't go that big...

I'm not a sleeve expert but it looks like he didn't cut into the block straight, so the sleeve had to be tweaked to compensate.

But I don't know if the thinning of the sleeve at the bottom will be a weak point for your engine?

Hope you update the thread after you hear back from your builder, good luck

Time to find a new machine shop.

You will have problems with headgaskets the sleeve needed to be left long and the block milled to true the deck to sleeve.

Lots of hacks out there that think they know what they are doing.

Measure the thickness of the material between the sleeves. I don't know if its the photo, but it doesn't eve look like the material between the water jackets and the cylinder are consistent.

thank you gentlemen -i measured the cylinder to cylinder - and there all within .001 of each other.

i spoke with the machine shop- and that just how the sleeve went in. but they bored it in the center position - in relation to cylinder to cylinder spec..

so i guess im good. ** shrugs shoulders**

thanks again guys

I still wouldn't fancy that my self it looks like well to me anyway that you could have trouble once it's run in with that piston leaking oil
If its not square with the crank

Many of the LS3/L92 OEM sleeves were cast into the blocks crooked, but then were bored and honed correctly. Its not a problem as long as you don't plan to bore the sleeve to its limit later on... At that point you end up with a sleeve that's way too thin on one side.

It's core shift and common on LS blocks. The block would need to be CNC machined and Darton sleeves installed to fix that problem.
