Default convert lt1 t56 to push slave to use with ls1

i did search and did not find the exact info i was looking for. It is possible to mount a universal slave push style on lt1 t56. Weir kit pictured below is an example.
The lt1 bellhousing is about 1" shorter than ls1 and the input shaft is about 1" shorter. (I found slightly different numbers which is why not sure if it will work) One of the bolts can't be used, but otherwise could lt1 t56 be bolted down to ls1 block with ls1 clutch and a shorter shimmed out slave to correctly disengage the clutch.

You could just swap to a ls1 input shaft and front cover.....

looks like i will be proceeding with selling the lt1 t56 and getting ls1 t56 instead. But the question still remains as a cheaper alternative to converting lt1 t56. To convert, it is 398.68 + shipping + cost of ls1 t56 bellhousing. If a different slave can be used, it could probably be done under $200 to run it.

Good question, and one i was curious about as well

400 bucks for input and front cover and then the expensive stock bellhousing or use what i have and buy different clutch

I will take measurements of lt1 t56 before shipping it so i can research this later as i get ls1 t56. Weir do not sell their kit anymore, but universal slave with a aluminum plate bolted to the fork mount on lt1 t56 theoretically would make this work

I've never seen a concentric slave solution for the LT1 T56 intended for use with a push clutch (on Gen I or LS engines) that didn't require:

effectively longer bellhousing / spacer which then requires extending pilot bearing location Or

a shallower (weaker) pressure plate.

That applies to McLeod's two depths of throwout bearing slaves.

The 153 flywheel and clutch from a 92-down Camaro / 88-down Vette will fit and there's room for an older short style throwout bearing. But there's no room to make an additional mounting plate.

Mechanical 95 T56/bell here, so I have been there.

I think if you modified the lt1 bell housing you could use a big tooth fly wheel

it is the bottom half where the shield goes. I know if i had access to a mill i could make it work. and use a cobra t56 front plate if i had the parts i cold do some mock up

The starter pocket is very tight; not all 153 starters fit the LT1 bell.
Is there an application for a cone-less pinion 168 starter or just aftermarket?
