Default f1r to f1x swap : pump gas /meth numbers

i posted this in the dyno section by mistake so here goes..

all parts are bought from Dallas performance. including all 3 blowers
Taylor was always awesome to deal with and getting parts through.

My builder/tuners name is Sam Miller and is well known in the LSX community for building FAST nitrous cars and boosted cars.(sam88gta1 on here)

I have to thank Sam for always taking the time to answer all my questions ( and i ask a LOT of questions) and always do fantastic work on the car... his work is second to none in my opinion. I wont let anyone touch my car besides him. He did an awesome job on the tune. i cant wait to drive it... @ 930 rwhp with the f1R it drove like stock. it was So docile out of boost you would almost think it was just a noisey stock car.

I decided that i wasnt happy with the numbers my F1R made on pump and through the filter with 4" pully (926/896) as over 6400 rpm it seemed to be running out of air.

We did a Direct f1R to F1X swap, moving over the 4" pully to the X.

eventually i will do bigger injectors and a clutch at which point we shall pull the filter, do a C16 kill tune

here are the results

93 octane/meth.
434 lsx/mast heads
4" pully.
Dallas performance 5" Big mouth and filter.
STOCK NPP
stock ls7 intake.

Wow. Same 5" filter/inlet on both blowers?

What were the approximate boost levels on these pulls?

That F1-X impresses more and more....well done.

f1r had a 4" intake setup. f1x inlet is 5" so i moved to a 5" intake.
the filter is slightly bigger with a bigger outlet, total surface area is close, with obviously the 5" setup having a little more surface area.
f1r put out 18.5# with the 4" pully. the X put out 25# with the same pully.

i have spent hours there hanging out and watching him work.. he really takes his time and goes over everything with a fine tooth comb. he makes sure everything is spot on before he releases the car..

definitely worth the wait..

WOW. It looks like it's a little slower to make boost on the low end, but more than makes up for it up top, not that you need more low end torque as I'm sure you can't feel the 20 rwtq when making north of 700-800 at lower rpms. Just amazed.

i was originally told to expect 50-60 rwhp/ft# loss down low which i was expecting, but clearly it didnt lose near that much.
Also. the Tq increase overall isnt crazy. it only picked up 35-40ft# peak.. it just carries it out longer into the RPM range.

while it wasnt a cheap experiment.. i think it was a good exercise for the Centri people in general. no changes but the blower intake/filter. Same blower pully.. same everything else. this IMO this is a good indication of the f1X potential vs the R.

The question is how much was the old filter hurting/hindering the system? Did you ever test it to see how much it made without the intake on it?

the f1R has a 4" inlet. the intake pipe was 4" with a BIG *** dallas performance big mouth intake.

even if i was choking off 50 rwhp.... the f1X still has a filter on it too. the f1X has a 5" inlet so the charge pipe and filter outlet is 5", but the total surface of the filters are not vastely different.

IMO anything i would gain from pulling the filter off the R i would gain doing the same with the X.

also, i drive the car on the street with the filter so keeping it on was a more valid test.

once i do a clutch and injectors, ill do a c16 no filter tune for special events like the Texas invitational, but other wise.. it will stay on the 1100 rwhp through a filter tune.. im really impressed with the numbers from this blower.

Ok, I was thinking that maybe the issue with the F1-R was intake restriction, but it obviously wasn't. I'm used to the f-body location where the intake gets restricted due to having to make a hard turn in order to fit.

Congrats again on a badass setup.

i'm sure the R was restricted by the intake/filter. That is why with the X i dynoed with the intake/filter on as well.. wanted to keep it as much apples to apples as i could.
