gto 3rd gear blocking ring. NEEDED!
So I have a pretty much brand new m12 trans in my 98 trans am. Was playing with it last weekend and felt a grind when I hit 3rd. Been grinding ever since. If I let the rpms die down. Sometimes it won't. Other times it'll still grind a little.
So my guess is a broken blocker ring. However I can't find just a blocker ring. And according to John at tick you have to buy the whole kit for $600.
If that's the case I'll keep driving 1,2-4
Just wondering if maybe y'all have a good used one laying around or something I could buy.
I know this isn't the classifieds but there's no better place to post it than here
Thanks!

Came in the gto's and a couple others I believe.
I too have a whole 3rd synchro assembly with new blockers.
But the gtot56 has triple cone 3rd gear synchro. So not just any blocker ring would work.

You can purchase the 3 piece blocker ring set piece by piece. It is a double friction blocker very similar to the 1-2 setup on the w/c t5. the center ring about 25.00 the outer 20.00 and the center is 15-20.00 Let me know witch one and i can give you the part numbers for each. The m12 unit is found in various vettes gto and ctsv. Another simmilar unit is found in the ssr. The main difference between the m6 and m12 units is the double/triple cone blockers on all the foward gears versus the double/single. This blocker ring setup has a shifting capacity of near 8000rpm. We build several hybrid units for cobras and viper using the same blocker ring/synchro set for some road race vehicles and had very good consistant results.

I broke the outter ring by not fully engaging the clutch when playing.
