Default Code P0430 on 98 Z28

I took my car to Auto Zone so they could read the "service engine soon". Code P0430 came up, I have headers and the magnaflow exhaust system on the car. Any idea what I should look at first? Could it be the O2 sensors, if so Pre or post?

Thanks,

Terry

Do you still have cats on the car? If not the rear o2 need to be tuned out.

Take the rear 02 sensors and swap sides. clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does then the cat on the pass side is bad.

Thank you!

Would it be a problem to drive the car through the week until I can do the swap?

Just because you have some kind of cats on the car doesn't mean they will satisfy the diagnostics like factory cats in their stock location will.

Thanks for responding, this is a new car for me, I switched from a dragster with a 355 SBC to this 98 Z28 LS1 so I am not up to speed with this type of motor. I am sure I will have more questions but this looks like a very good forum to get advice.

Thanks again,

Terry

I put about 500 miles on the car, ran 89 octane in it and now the "service engine soon" light is no longer on.

Glad the warning light went away, but why?
