Default M6-A4 wiring question

Ok, I have been doing lots of reading on here about the swap. I got a handle on the "hard" parts so to speak required for the swap & have started to source them.

Here is the question though. Do I swap to an auto harness or just the Speartech add-on harness? http://www.speartech.com/product_p/4l60eaddon.htm

Both options cost about the same amount. Seems everyone wants around $200 for a auto harness. So which is actually the better route to go? I'm sure some people here have done this swap using both methods, so I'm looking for experienced advice on this.

I will be swapping in a 4L65 most likely, I got a buddy who has one from a 408 Trailblazer that caught fire. He still had this tranny in his garage & offered to trade me straight across for my damaged T56. I know I'll have to change the shift linkage & tail housing but it gets me into a auto tranny at minimal cost so it'll work for now.

Has no one used the Speartech harness? I did more searching last night but really didn't find much.

$200 for a stock harness?

I had the plug that came with my 4L80e but the wires had been cut. Extended the wires and pinned into the PCM. My buddy got the Speartech harness for his. It's a nice piece but I wasn't going to spend that much on a harness when I could make my own.

Yea, so far the stock undamaged A4 harnesses I have come across are going for around $200. I'm not very skilled at all when it comes to electrical, hence my hesitation to attempt my own harness. The speartech looked well made & had each wire labeled for simple install. For someone with limited electrical knowledge this seems like a great option.

I'm guessing that ebay link is for a factory replacement 4L60 harness? If so that would be a much cheaper option. Has anyone used one of those? Can a piece like in the ebay listing be used with a M6 harness or does the speartech have extra or different wiring to work with a M6 harness?

Sorry if these questions are kinda dumb, but I'd rather ask here & get flamed potentially then buy the wrong parts & get stuck halfway through a swap.

I wouldn't mind sir. Do you happen to know if it was the same as the pigtail posted above from ebay but with longer wires & labels?

So the ebay link is just for replacing a factory A4 plug if it becomes damaged but the Speartech has enough length to reach the PCM for the swap, correct? I'd hate to have to extend the ebay harness, seems like that would possibly increase the risk of a bad connection to track down later. I do have a soldering kit & know how to do that but I'm not sure if the time & chance of bad connection is worth the savings.

Hmmmmmmm.....got some thinking to do I guess. I just wasn't sure if the speartech had something different from a stock plug pigtail.

ahh, so in addition to being longer it also already has the pin connectors. That is pretty darn convenient. I might just bit the bullet & buy the Speartech then. Thankx for the info man.

Yeah the Speartech would be easier. You would have to extend the wires and pin it for the PCM if you went the stock route.

Alrighty then, it's decided. I'll just use the Speartech & my stock M6 harness then.
