Default LS7 Swap C5 Z06

I'm doing some homework on swapping an LS7 in my C5 Z06.

After some research i decided i'd like to keep my wet sump and avoid extra cost and relocating parts. A few articles posted there was no loss of power from not converting over to a dry sump so that's a plus.

If i purchase a bare forged Ls7 block like the one shown here....

I know i would need to supply most the rest of the essentials to complete the motor (heads, cam, pumps, intake manifold etc). How does this add up cost and quality wise vs a complete crate motor or a used one?

What all would be needed?

I just did this a short time ago on my 03 ZO6. I bought a new LS 7 RTA, torque plate honed, bare block and put a forged rotating assembly in (Callies crank, compstar rods, wiseco pistons).

You need a short snout crank as the regular LS 7 crank won't work as its to long. You can find used LS 7 heads at a bargain price and then have them ported along with new valve guides. Shop for a used LS 7 intake and fuel rail and LS 7 injectors. Have the LS 7 intake radically ported. Am using a LS 7 clutch assemble. You will need several harnesses also.

Try calling John @ Texas Speed, he helped put my package together.

Its been worth it, doing fender flares now and 345's on the back.

Best, Tom.
