First of all, LS1 tech is a great resource! Thanks to all the members.

I'm in the middle of my LS3 conversion on a 1977 Nissan 280Z. I have the headers installed for fitment. The passenger side headers are blocking the oil temperature sensor on the F body oil pan. Here is a link to the ls f body oil pan


Anyone encounter this type of problem? I would consider different oil pan with different oil temp sensor placement. Not sure which pan would work. Any specific pans I should try? Any online websites with diagrams showing the oil pan specs?

That's not a temp sensor, its an oil level sensor. You don't need it. You can take it out and plug it.

Should be two wires that go to it. Just connect them together

I see from my wiring diagram one wire is grounded and the other goes to the ECU, so from your post I take it the level switch is open when oil is not present and grounds the ECM input when oil is present.

How does the ECM respond when no oil is present? Does it stop running or does it just trigger a DTC/check engine?

Yes the switch is open when level is low. On our 03 it turns on the low oil level light

I never use the Oil Level sensor and have had no issue.. I seen some have used the port for oil temp..

If you don't hook it up and hook a scanner to the car, it will say 'low oil level- "yes"', if you ground the wire it will say "no", but has absolutely no affect on how it runs.My car is in a perpetual state of low oil. Lol
