I haven't heard of this issue with a factory air box -- only with aftermarket lids. You're running the OE lid with the big baffles on either side?

Im with demonspeed. Are you sure you have a stock one? Has ridges down the side, it would say "ram air" on it. Or does it say SLP or nothing at all?

The aftermarket ones are known to be difficult, but they will hold if you get them positioned correctly. leave all of the clamps loose from the lid to the tb and adjust it till it stays, then tighten the clamps.

All stock for sure bought from 1st owner who was 75 when I got with 8500 miles on it now. Thanks for the replies. What I did is make the two claps tighter fitting by pushing the c shape in the clamp closer together to make the a tad shorter, thus tighter when clapped down. Should have seen the factory filter it was like it was baked in the box. Don't think it was ever removed !

Make sure the filter is seated and then push the rear of the lid into the tab holes, then push the front down and your clips should work. Often times with a new filter, it's thicker and does not allow the rear of the lid to seat, which lets the lid come forward and pops the clips every time.

Just regular driving did not pop any of my clips on my SLP lid. If I got on it at some time every time almost when I got home popped the hood one would be unclipped from the vibration I guess. What I did was drill a small hole into the clip & into the box and install a size #6 sheet metal screw. Problem solved you don't have to change a filter or clean a K&N that often to worry about it.

I had this problem with my whisper lid. I just drilled a small hole in the bottom of the clips, and the bottom of the airbox and ran a ziptie through them to keep them closed.
