Default Did my plugs today

It has been a while since I have posted or worked on my car for that matter. It has been busy! Today I decided to get my plugs and wires done as my car just rolled over 95k. Figured I would just post up about my experience as a first time plug changer on the ls1. FWIW I am 6 3 and 255 pounds so my hands and arms always make working on things harder. Drivers side was relatively easy, but man those suckers were on there. Took a pliers to yank em off. The passenger side was definitely harder. I ended up taking off the AIR fitting and was able to reach #2,4,and 6. For drivers side and front three on the passenger side, I used a 3/8 drive ratchet with deep well spark plug socket and a combination of 3 and 6 in extensions along with a u joint. For #8 (the bastard one) I went from underneath and used just the spark plug socket and a 3/4 ratcheting wrench. These tools (and beer) made it pretty easy to take it on. Took about 3 and a half hours with all downtime and beer drinking.

Its a little bit of a bitch on a stock car. I can change mine in 20 minutes without hvac and the AIR though. Good deal.

You did good, as on my full emissions stocker it takes me a good 6 hours+ to do this, with NO beer breaks.

Then my arms and hands look like I went 1000 rounds with an angry, rabid, Wolverine.

Changed mine yesterday from the bottom with headers. Left handed with my body basically under the tire...hell, thats how I put the wire on the coil. SLP headers, gotta come in from the outside of the header, not under it.. Im 5'10', 180. YMMV.

With tsp 1 7/8 headers its not too bad. Definitely not as easy as a sbc 350 in a classic muscle car.

I can do my plugs in my c5 in 20 minutes or less lol. After doing plugs in this car it made me realize how bad my ws6 really was. This is obviously with headers and all emmisions deleted too allowing for a straight shot to the plugs.

Default F-body v. C5 plug change

In the last 15 year's I've had 3 Trans Ams and two C5s, and I am NOT looking forward to changit the spark plugs in my recent acquisition, a 2000 TA. The C5s spoiled me!

I am in process of putting long tubes on my 02 Z28. It is very easy to get to the plugs once you pull the exhaust manifolds. WIDE OPEN. Now I have to put the headers in though. *SIGH*

Get the proper tools. Plugs aren't too bad.
