Default High oil temp

So yesterday I was driving my stock 05 V down the freeway and my oil temp got up to 305 then dropped back down to 240's..I wasn't driving hard at all. Is that normal? If not how would I fix that? Where would I start?

Thanks

Chris

At that temp, you're are at serious risk of spinning a bearing.

It's the sensor.. The is no way the oil is getting that high unless the coolant is overheating. Or no oil pressure! Those sensors are known to be off and finicky
