What are realistict RWHP #'s LQ4?
What are realistic RWHP #'s for OEM LQ4 with virgin 317's and truck intake, with head studs, properly turbo matched cam (kit w/springs) on 91 octane with a2W and meth injection. Will have 4l80e trans and single 76 mm (68 exhaust) ball bearing Turbonetics turbo. I already own turbo, bought new for $700 so I took. Please give rwhp opinions with what safe boost and timing opinions as well.
Thanks,
Tyler

Wow sorry to jack the thread, but that gives me some hope for my 6.0 mti stealth II,88/79 turbo lol. I plan on running very low timing just to be safe. A shop by me made an amazing 700rwhp, with a 6.0, head studs, stock cam, truck intake, and a on3 76mm turbo, but it was 15lbs on e85

I plan on that. My goal is 750 rwhp with a2w and spraying meth. I am putting the most possible best matched cam I can get to get max efficiency. Only time will tell. Spraying meth will let me give more timing so hope that helps. When I scatter it I will be forged engine in and hopefully LSx motor of money is there.

You will do that no problem I'm sure. I am not sure on my hp yet but calculating it is around 700ish . 3700lb car trapping 144. This is just gas no meth so just get the correct cam and a few supporting moda and you will reach your goal easily

That is good point, lol. When the little one gives up I will get bigger but hopefully forged bottom end minimum by then. Hoping by a2w can stretch turbo efficiency little bit by less intercooler boost loss compared to a2a.

And it was going to go in '72 C10 but that truck has sat for long long time and will take a fortune to make street worthy again before even worrying about turbo, plus its heavy, lol. Looking for something much lighter now. Parts will start coming in next week for this (well the parts that are completely non vehicle related).

I bought complete '83 Mustang over the week with a S475 on it and LQ4 with cam. Tavo (previous owner and friend) only ran 10.1@138 on 13 psi leaving in 2nd (TH400) and bumping to 19 psi went 9.79@143 leaving in 2nd again to build boost, pushed thru line in low. He was running e85 but think was actually like e70. Combod with fact I think the a2a is too small (3" in and out") and seems only 1/2 has good airflow over core. So yeah I am guessing before it melted a piston it pulled a lot of timing trying to save. I bought it right and knew engine needed replaced/repaired. When back together a lot will be changed. I will have 3.5" in/out a2w, ported 317 heads no oem cast like had, meth/water injection and will be on 91 octane, no e85 (no e85 within 110 miles), hopefully with changes will help a lot.

I had a lq4 last year, stock cam and all. (build thread in sig). I ran 650whp all year long, no issues. The rods will be the limit when tuned properly, mine bent 3 rods at the end of the year at 740whp.
Forged rods and pistons and then the crank will be the limiter, maxing about 1100whp.
good luck.

Damn these are some sick numbers. I am seriously impressed with the power these setups can make with relatively minimal mods. Being new its refreshing to see I made the right choice by choosing to go LQ4 into my 95 240sx. The game plan thus far is relatively similar except I plan on using a T56 since I am in a light chassis.
