Default carbd sprayed lq9 cam recommendations...

Looking for some opinions on a good cam for the motor I'm putting together. Engine set up is lq9 with dome forged piston with valve reliefs, untouched 317s, 11:1 compression, Victor jr carb manifold and th400 trans. Well be hit with 250 to 300 on spray.

I had good results with my ms3 back in my old ls1 camaro and Texas speed recommend a ms3 in this setup also. I'm wondering if there is something better suited for this combo. Or even a custom cam would be good, not really sure who to trust to spec one out though....

Motor set up is going in a notch mustang that will only see track duty.

Off shelf, a Trex will work fantastic. For the best results, custom ground. Once again, Martin at tick performance has been taking care of us carbed guys.

I think that MS3 would get it done nicely with a 4000 converter on spray.

I ran a trex in my first setup. With 383 ci it was a bit mild. Now I went with a custom grind. I wanted to try to walk the line of NA and n2o. So we ended up with a 248/258 dur at .650" on both sides with a 112+2 lsa.
This set up runs really good.

I say go custom grind.

IMO the MS3 has WAY to late of an intake valve closing event for a single plane. Unless you want no torque, no bottom end and want to turn it 7500rpm.

Hell it's too late of an IVC event for a long runner OEM style intake let alone a single plane. It's why it makes very little torque.

I know the trex is tried and true for such a old grind. Holds NA records. I could see it running out of steam on a 383.

Advance it to a 107-108 ICL. Problem solved.
