Who's building strong 4L80's these days?
4 months ago I sent my transmission off to a very reputable shop for a total rebuild and a brake... They haven't even touched it yet, and continue to give me the run around. So I'm now looking for another shop/sponsor who can build an 80 with a brake and have it hold up to at least 1,000 whp.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Without a doubt, sponsor Jake Performance near Dallas TX. I know that is the consensus here and on many other GM car/truck forums. Jake answers questions here all the time too and is very helpful. (He has about 1000 posts here and nearly 9000 on nastyz28.com.)

I won't make any promises on their behalf, but RPM and FLT are very reputable auto trans builders.
I have a 4L60E in my 590 RWHP Camaro that has been modified by both of those shops and it has held up fine. I would think they could build an 80E that could withstand a good bit more.

I'm fairly certain we build more 4L80E's than any performance shop in the industry since they are our specialty and we have some exclusive parts for them.
I have seen a couple of RPM builds and they do a good job as well, as to be expected from a reputable company.
Same goes for FLT.
We do have our own transbrake design (two actually). Most other 4L80E builders use ours or Rossler's transbrake.
