ls1 fbody alternator in carb application, can it work
Simple question, can it be done? I have the pigtail for it, but I don't know how to wire it out if it's even possible, or does it need the pcm to run it? I also have an older alternator but no bracket or ways to make one.

We also sell the pigtail with the resistor already soldered in and several feet of wire for routing it through your vehicle. The price for that is $15 if you so choose to go that route.

If you search the forum there is a diagram somewhere in this forum, I dont recommend the tape on the wire in the diagram picture though.

The resistor keeps your car's harness from delivering too much voltage to the alternator's regulator, which would in turn "instruct" the alternator to generate too much voltage to the car. The end result of this is that the alternator usually burns up in a short time. It also can cook your battery.

i just did this in my ls drag car. my alt had 2 wires in plug, white which loops back to the main terminal with big feed to battery/starter; and brown which goes to the dash with small globe (similar to autometer light) which is fed power on ignition.
i run an engine plate but i utilise the two top holes for normal alt bracket, but made my own spacers and link bar, then actually use two sail shade stainless adjustors. bought a 790mm 4 rib pulley from local parts store.

Is it possible to use my factory alternator gauge?
Forgot to mention, It has a carb conversion.

If your factory gauge has a charge light you can use that in place of the resistor. Just run the wire straight to the bulb in the idiot light. The bulb takes the place of the resistor. The other side of the bulb needs to hook to switched 12V.
