The 95 cobra has the same 4v ohc motor as in the mach 1 and 99 cobra. Rated 300 hp or so.

Wrong, the Mach 1 has a windsor aluminium block which is weaker, but it picks up performance from having 10:1 compression whereas the cobra has modular typical 9:1 compression. I believe the heads have different intake ports as well but I don't mustang as well as I used to.

edit: they didn't even put modular motors into mustangs until '96, so that was a pushrod motor you raced

I had one, not impressive. It's the same 16 valve on the regular GT with a few extra ponies.

If it's factory the '95 Cobra's still had the 5.0 rated factory at 240hp lol. My lowly bolt-on LT1 puts bus lengths on them '96 is when they switched to the 4.6L rated around 300hp.

Its a way different top end, I believe dual 57mm throttle bodys where the gt had a single 65mm (I think, but sould be wrong) and the cobra has 4v heads which make more power and a higher redline and actually makes power up closer to redline, plus a way better intake, point is GTs suck for anything but burnouts and cobras are a little better

95 and older Cobras are total turds.

Back in high school my friend had a 95 Cobra - camed, intake manifold, headers, exhaust. My 93 Z28 with just K&N FIPK, stall, and longtubes w/Magnaflow dual exhaust would pull him BAD every race, from any speed. He supposedly told everyone he had the fastest car around, so you can imagine how much we made fun of him for the rest of the year.

95 Cobra had the pushrod 302 with GT40 iron heads, Cobra intake, 65mm tb. They were rated at 240hp. This was a puppy kicking, lol.

You're thinking of the later cars. The 94-95 cars (GT's and cobras) were 5.0L 302's.

This. No dual TB's. Little bit better heads, cam, and intake, but still weren't great. Keeping the same motor as the fox and gaining weight, tip-in timing retard, worse upper intake for hood clearance, and finickier computers when modded didn't fare well against the LT1's and then when the LS1's came out they savagely raped the SN95 302's unless they were H/C or power adder, 96-98 GT's don't even get me started. I love SBF 302's, they can be made to run decent but you have to know what the **** you're doing. ****, an LS1 with thrown together **** can make 400+ at the tire on accident nowadays

I genuinely do wish Ford still offered a pushrod motor, I love wrenching on my 302 but different strokes is what makes the hobby fun. Fords and GM's are both making cars with respectable power now so I think it's interesting they took two different roads.

Like the 96+ ones are better? lol

Cobras failed till 03/04 and even they were nothing special when stock. A stock coyote will run with/yank one.

You just have to try and start **** in every single thread you post in, don't you . Anyway OP, yes the 5.0 Cobras were not very fast at all; mid 14s on a great day. A couple bolt-ons doesn't do much.
